A thorough and highly accurate history and genealogy of the Carmichaels who emigrated from the Highlands of Scotland in the mid-to-late 1700’s, and settled in the Cape Fear Valley of North Carolina, later migrating to Marion County, South Carolina. The author was the grandson of Daniel Washington Carmichael, a grandson of one of the immigrants. Daniel Washington died in 1902, when the author was 31 years old. Much of the information here is not available in any known extant records. Highly recommended for any Carmichaels with Southern Carmichael ancestry. Originally printed in 1935.
